Massage therapy students from Stautzenberger Institute in Allen Park, Michigan, came together on September 12th to provide chair and sports massages at St. Mary Mercy of Livonia Campus. The students helped celebrate St. Mary Mercy 50th Anniversary Celebration and their 3rd Annual 5K Run/Walk for Cancer by providing massages to runners and supporters of the events. Carrie Mayo, the supervising instructor, stated that “The runners sang praises of the massage students and were very grateful for the massages after the run…What a great day for a great event!” The massage students gained valuable hands on experience and were able to practice their sports massage techniques on numerous willing participants! The next opportunity to gain externship hours will be posted on the Massage Board-so check back often!
